In order to improve pedestrian safety, Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO) in collaboration with Derq, a well-known developer of AI analytics solutions that address problems of road safety and traffic management, has launched 14 smart pedestrian crossing systems across DSO. DSO is a technology park located in Dubai, UAE. The new system is capable of predicting the behaviour of pedestrians and drivers and flashing warning signs, thus enhancing road safety. The system’s AI algorithms can track cyclists, vehicles and pedestrians moving towards the pedestrian crosswalk and prevent potential accidents. The system’s algorithms also allow the activation and deactivation of alerts depending on specific crossing situations, which ensures systematic traffic management in the region.
