Bhupinder Singh, an Indian playback singer who was known for his ghazals, passed away on July 18 at the age of 82. In his career spanning many decades, he sang numerous popular Hindi movie songs including ‘Naam Gum Jayega’ and ‘Dil Dhoondta Hai’. He was also an excellent guitarist and played music for many popular songs such as ‘Chura Liya Hai’. Singh was born in Amritsar in Punjab and was taught music by his father, Natha Singh. He started his career with All India Radio in the 1950s. He worked with top music composers such as RD Burman and many famous singers such as Lata Mangeshkar, Bappi Lahiri and Asha Bhosle.
