The longest twin tunnel in the world called Sela Tunnel was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 9. Constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), this tunnel connects Assam’s Tezpur to Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang. The tunnel was built at a cost of ₹825 crore and features a 1,555mt-long twin tube tunnel and a 980mt-long single tube tunnel. Constructed near Sela Pass, this project also comprises a 1,200mt-long link road. It is built at an altitude of 13,000ft and provides year-round connectivity to Tawang, a strategically important Indian region located close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.
