Sei whales, among the largest creatures on Earth, which had disappeared for over a century have returned to Argentina’s Patagonian coast. According to researchers, hunting operations carried out during the 1920s and 1930s caused sei whale populations to decline, which led to reduced sightings. However, conservation efforts, including a ban on commercial whaling, have proven successful and the whale populations have begun to recover. According to researchers, after being on the brink of extinction, the whale populations took around eight decades to bounce back enough for people to be able to spot them again.
