A major security breach took place in the Indian Parliament on December 13, 2023, when two men initiated an attack on the Lok Sabha chamber. One of the men stormed into the chamber from the visitors’ gallery and jumped onto desks in the area where the members of parliament (MPs) were seated. Both men sprayed coloured gas from canisters and shouted slogans. Two other people were detained outside the Parliament for engaging in similar behaviour. The incident took place on the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 terror attack on the Indian Parliament. The intruders were arrested and investigations later revealed that they were protesting against various issues facing India including unemployment.
