Sanjeev Raina, an Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) officer of the 1987 batch, was assigned the role of additional director general (ADG) of the India-China Line of Actual Control (LAC) guarding force in August. This is a rare appointment by the ITBP as 59-year-old Raina is only the second non-Indian Police Service (IPS) officer to hold this position in the force. Raina, who is originally from Jammu and Kashmir, has served as the ADG of the Western Command. He oversaw units positioned along the LAC covering Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, he was in charge of Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab’s units. Raina, whose experience with the ITBP spans more than three decades, alsoestablished the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare (CIJW) School in Uttarakhand’s Mahidanda.
