A British author named Samantha Harvey was awarded the Booker Prize 2024 for her fictional book, ‘Orbital’. A 136-page story about six astronauts in space, ‘Orbital’ highlights the Earth’s magnificence and human bonds. Harvey, who was born in Kent, UK, was among the five women shortlisted for the prize in 2024 and winning it makes her the first female recipient since 2019. Harvey has authored five novels including ‘The Western Wind’ and ‘The Wilderness’. She was honoured with the Betty Trask Prize for ‘The Wilderness’ and has been shortlisted for numerous awards including the Walter Scott Prize and the Women’s Prize. The Booker Prize is among the most prestigious awards for English literature and its winner is awarded £50,000.
