Scientists at the University of Tokyo, Japan, have developed a robotic face with living skin cells attached to it. Scientists made use of living skin cells to develop artificial skin in a laboratory. They then devised a new technique to attach this skin to the robotic face in a manner that would allow the face to move and emulate human expressions without damaging the skin. The artificial skin is soft and flexible and can repair itself. Scientists made tiny holes in the robotic face and used collagen gel to firmly stick the artificial skin on it. Scientists believe this technology will have applications in plastic surgery and various other industries.
