Joshua Martinangeli, a seven-year-old German boy, suffers from severe lung disease that doesn’t allow him to attend school physically. He interacts with his teachers and classmates through an avatar robot that attends school on his behalf. The robot sends a blinking signal whenever Joshua wants to say something during class. Students talk to Joshua via the robot and also laugh with him. The project is a private initiative paid for by the local council in the Berlin district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf.
