Scientists have discovered a 460km-long river under the Antarctic ice sheet. Scientists initially thought that the lakes under the Antarctic ice weren’t connected to each other, but they have now discovered that the water bodies are interconnected by huge river networks. Scientists observed that the newly discovered river is more active than what was previously estimated and may be speeding up the loss of ice in the region.
