The governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Shaktikanta Das was awarded the ‘Governor of the Year’ award on June 14 at the Central Banking Awards 2023 held in London, UK. He was honoured with the award for displaying outstanding leadership and for tackling numerous crises during his tenure, including the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war. Das took charge as RBI’s 25th governor in December 2018. He has cemented critical reforms and overseen the improvement of India’s banking sector.
