34-year-old Rayyanah Barnawi created history by becoming the first female Arab astronaut to go to space. She was part of the team that went to the International Space Station (ISS) on an eight-day research mission in a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket that took off from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA. The private mission, called Axiom Mission, included two Americans and two Saudi nationals including Barnawi. Barnawi is a biomedical researcher and has more than 10 years of experience in the field of cancer stem cell research. During her time onboard the ISS, she conducted stem cell and breast cancer research.
