A rare tusk of an ancient mammoth was discovered by researchers off the coast of California in USA. It is one of the oldest well-preserved mammoth tusks recovered from this region. The tusk was first spotted in 2019 under the ocean but it has only recently been retrieved. It is identified to be over 1,00,000 years old. Researchers believe that the cold atmosphere under the water helped preserve the tusk. Researchers from different laboratories and universities will conduct studies to learn more about the area where the tusk was found and also to under-stand why it was found in the ocean. These findings will help the team learn more about the history of mammoths in North America.
