On May 15, Rajiv Kumar replaced Sushil Chandra to assume charge as the 25th chief election commissioner (CEC) of India. Prior to this, Kumar worked as an election commissioner at the Election Commission of India and as chairman of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB). As the CEC, Kumar’s duties will include overseeing the presidential and vice presidential elections, which will be held in July, the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and many other important elections.
