In Florida, iguanas residing in trees dropped to the ground as temperatures dropped to 4˚C. Iguanas are cold-blooded animals, which means they cannot generate their own body heat. When the temperature drops to under 4˚C, they go off to sleep to slow down their body’s physiological demands. The cold also makes them immobile and they are not able to hold onto tree branches. Though the creatures do not get hurt from the fall, they could injure someone as they can grow to 5ft in length and weigh close to 11kgs.
