The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has revealed its plan to construct a railway system on the moon, which will enable payload transport across the lunar surface and support future lunar missions. Scientists at NASA are in the process of developing the robotic transport system called Flexible Levitation on a Track (FLOAT), which will aid in transporting lunar soil, equipment and other materials across the moon and will support astronauts’ activities during future visits. The system will comprise unpowered magnetic robots that will levitate over a three-layer flexible film track and move payloads at a speed of around 0.5mts per second.

DID YOU KNOW?
The moon revolves around the Earth at a speed of about 3,700kms/hr.
