A simple composting technology called pipe composting is being promoted by the Assam government for the efficient disposal of biodegradable waste that is generated in households. This method uses PVC pipes to transform biodegradable waste into compost. This method has already been incorporated in schools by the District Water and Sanitation Committee of Assam’s Biswanath district. The state is now endorsing this technique among its rural communities. Pipe composting enables the conversion of organic waste into manure in a short time and is environmentally friendly.
