Many pigeons in the UK have contracted a mysterious disease that has left them with a twisted neck. The disease, which spreads through faeces and other secretions, is extremely infectious.
Known as Pigeon Paramyxovirus PPMV or Newcastle’s Disease, it affects doves, chickens, other poultry and pigeons, leaving them with a neurological problem that causes trembling of the head and wings and an inability to stand.

Pigeons die within 72 hours of catching the infection.
