Paramesh Sivamani has assumed the role of director general of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG). With this appointment, Sivamani, who is a navigation and direction expert, became the ICG’s 26th director general. Sivamani is an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College, Tamil Nadu, and National Defence College, New Delhi, and has over three decades of experience in land and maritime operations. In the past, he has served in numerous roles including deputy director general for operations and coastal security and has commanded significant vessels like the offshore patrol vessel Vishwast. He has won numerous accolades for his work including the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (East) Commendation in the year 2009 and the President’s Tatrakshak Medal in 2019.
