Padraig O’Dubhlaoidh, a violin maker with 40 years of experience, has made the world’s first vegan violin—historically horsehair, hooves, horns and bones have been used to create the instrument. Based in Malvern, England, O’Dubhlaoidh used components like steamed pear, berries and spring water in his instrument. He even used natural replacements for animal-based glues. The steamed pear and wild berries were used to make the inlay around the edge of the instrument.
