Noel Tata, the half-brother of the late Ratan Tata, has been appointed as the chairman of Tata Group’s charitable arm, Tata Trusts. Noel Tata, who has been part of Tata Group for more than 40 years, succeeds chairman emeritus Ratan Tata who passed away on October 9. Noel Tata contributed significantly to the growth and expansion of many of Tata Group’s divisions including Trent, the group’s retail division. He serves in various leadership capacities including vice chairman of Titan Company Limited and chairman of Tata Investment Corporation and Voltas. He was also instrumental in boosting Tata International Limited’s revenue during his tenure as the company’s managing director. Tata, who is an alumnus of the University of Sussex, UK, serves as a trustee on the boards of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and the Sir Ratan Tata Trust.
