A senior basic school in Palakkad, Kerala, has advised its students to address their teachers as ‘teacher’ and not use the title ‘sir’ or ‘madam’. With this, the government-aided school has become the first school in Kerala to introduce gender neutrality in addressing a teacher. The idea was introduced by the headmaster of the school and a male staff member.
