Arun Subramanian has been appointed as a judge of the Manhattan Federal District Court of New York, USA, making him the first Indian-American and the first South Asian to serve on this bench. Subramanian was born in Pennsylvania, USA, in 1979 and is the son of Indian immigrants. He acquired his Bachelor of Arts degree from Case Western Reserve University and received his Juris Doctor honour from Columbia Law School, USA, in 2004. Subramanian is a consumer protection expert and is a partner at Susman Godfrey LLP since 2007. He formerly served as a law clerk to three judges including Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
