Researchers at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), Australia, discovered a new species of demon catshark off Australia’s coast. This species has shiny, white irises, which is very unusual for creatures that dwell in deep waters. Called Apristurus ovicorrugatus, this species attaches its eggs to corals. The fish was identified because of the unique T-shaped ridges on its egg cases. This discovery will enhance scientists’ understanding of the evolution of sharks.
