A new bat species was discovered by Dr Bhargavi Srinivasulu, a scientist at Osmania University, Hyderabad, and her son. The species, which has been named Miniopetrus Srinii Srini’s bent-winged bat, was found in a cave in Makuta in Karnataka’s Kodagu district. Previously, there were only four known bent-winged bat species in India. The discovery of the new species takes the number up to five.
