My Reading Journey

Jaya Prakash Sirikonda, Class 10, The Crossword School, Guntur

Harry Potter parts 1, 2, 3 are my favourite novels. My favourite character is of course Harry Potter, who is the protagonist in the series. I like the way he thinks and solves mysteries like Philosopher’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets. He also unravels mysteries around his father and his friend Sirius Black.
In any of the Harry Potter books, you will find lot of twists and turns. The narrative keeps changing. It will never go in a single path. For example, in the third book, Prisoner of Azkaban, you would find many events unfold parallelly: Hagrid’s trial and also Harry’s tryst with Quidditch cup.
Coming to my reading journey, until class 7, I had not read any novels. I thought I could not manage the heavy language of the novels. Then my English teacher gave me the novel named Kiki Kallira, which was written in a much accessible tone. For the first time, I not only got going with the novels but also developed a keen interest in reading them. There was a sudden change in me after I finished reading that novel. There was a drastic bump in my academics as well. Prior to reading the novels, I used to get 80%. But after I started reading the novels, I have been scoring above 95% in all the subjects. I was stunned to see how high my marks were. Of course, I am happy.
