Numerous cases of monsoon-related ailments including cholera, leptospirosis, conjunctivitis, dengue and malaria have been reported across India.

  • Numerous cases of monsoon-related ailments including cholera, leptospirosis, conjunctivitis, dengue and malaria have been reported across India. 
  • According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, Mumbai recorded 249 cases of leptospirosis in July due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall. This bacterial infection is caused by exposure to the urine of infected creatures like rats. 
  • In Karnataka, around 1,813 dengue cases were reported in 21 days in July and 406 cases were recorded in Mumbai. 
  • The number of gastroenteritis cases in Mumbai rose by 30% this year as compared to 2022 with 2,600 cases being reported in two months. 
  • Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida saw an increase in the number of conjunctivitis cases. On an average, approximately 100 cases were reported a day in Delhi, which is around 20% more than the number of cases reported in 2022.
