To enhance its artificial intelligence (AI) competitiveness, technology company Meta has acquired Moltbook, a social network site created to facilitate engagement and communication between AI agents. Moltbook comprises AI agents that can operate on their own, sharing and interacting with statuses, posts, photos and other content, mimicking the behaviour of human social media users. With the acquisition, Ben Parr and Matt Schlicht, the co-founders of Moltbook, will become part of Meta Superintelligence Labs, the AI business division of Meta. The acquisition is among many of Meta’s attempts to bring top AI expertise into its business.
