McDonald’s, the popular American multinational fast-food chain, started using paper-based cutlery instead of plastic cutlery across Wales and England in the UK from November onwards. This paper-based cutlery is completely compostable and recyclable and its use will help reduce the 858 metric tonnes of plastic that McDonald’s consumes annually. What’s more, the chain hopes to increase its use of sustainable items worldwide and is working to make all its packaging renewable and recyclable by 2024.
