- Mattel introduced a Diwali Barbie doll ahead of the Diwali festival. This doll has been designed in partnership with Indian fashion designer Anita Dongre and features attire that reflects Indian culture.
- The Diwali Barbie’s attire comprises a lehenga skirt, choli top and koti vest. The lehenga skirt is designed with motifs of jasmine, lotus and dahlia flowers.
- The doll also features golden earrings and bangles and a bindi, showcasing India’s heritage.
- The doll was sold on Mattel’s website and by retailers such as Amazon. Through the launch of the doll, Mattel hopes to promote diversity around the world.
- With this launch, Barbie dolls now come in 35 skin tones, 97 hairstyles and nine body types.
