89-year-old Madhur Jaffrey has made history by becoming the first Indian and South Asian personality to be honoured with the James Beard Lifetime Achievement Award. This award recognises the lifetime achievements of individuals who have made a difference in the culinary world. Jaffrey is a British-American chef and cookbook author who was born in India. She has published over 30 cookbooks in her lifetime, including ‘An Invitation to Indian Cooking’, which was published in 1973. Her show, ‘Madhur Jaffrey’s Indian Cookery’, which first aired on the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), was very successful in the UK. She was also awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2022 for her achievements.
