A lung disease known as hypersensitive pneumonia that affects humans who live around pigeons is on the rise in Pune, Thane and Mumbai. Posters were put up by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) to spread awareness about the disease, which affects people who come in contact with pigeon droppings over a period of time and gradually damages their lungs. Doctors have warned people against feeding and breeding birds. The TMC has also imposed a fine of `500 on people who are seen feeding pigeons.
