On the occasion of World Environment Day, which is annually celebrated on June 5, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a global initiative called the Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE) Movement. The launch initiated the LiFE Global Call for Papers, inviting suggestions from academic and research institutions, universities and other sources to help encourage and convince people to adopt an environmentally-friendly lifestyle.
The idea of LiFE was introduced by Modi during the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland, last year. The idea encourages a lifestyle that focusses on ‘mindful and deliberate utilisation’ rather than ‘mindless and destructive consumption’.
