What’s more, for the ninth year in succession, India has had to deal with an irregular withdrawal of the southwest monsoon season. The sowing and harvesting patterns of Kharif crops have been affected all over the country and this has left farmers at a loss.
One of the major fallouts of this change is in the quality and quantity of products generated from farms across India and the annual income of farmers, who rely on the produce from their farms to make ends meet. In these COVID times, when everyone is struggling, this loss has made their lives a lot more difficult. But they are not the only ones to suffer; climate change has started to affect each and every person on Earth.
So how are we going to stop it?
At home,
If we do not take the right action now, we are headed into a global catastrophe—quicker loss of glaciers, which will lead to a rise in sea levels and loss of land on the coastal belt; and more intense heat waves and monsoons. Scientists also believe that with the melting of glaciers, viruses that may have been trapped in the glaciers during the Ice Age might come back to life again. Can we afford another virus attack?
