The construction of the Viraat Ramayan Mandir, which is set to be the world’s largest Ramayan temple, commenced on June 20 in East Champaran district, Bihar. The three-storey temple will be built on 3.76 lakh sq ft of land. The 405ft high, 2,800ft long and 1,400ft wide structure will have 12 domes. It will also house a Shivling, which will be 33ft high. The height of the Viraat Ramayan Mandir is expected to surpass the height of the Angkor Wat temple complex in Camb-odia, which is the world’s largest religious structure as per the Guinness World Records. The cost of the project is `500 crore and its construction is expected to be completed by 2025. The temple is expected to accom-modate around 20,000 people at a time.
