The Met Gala, one of the most popular fashion events in the world, took place on May 1 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, USA. The beige Met Gala carpet that was laid on the stairs of the venue was created by Neytt by Extraweave, an Indian design house from Kerala. The carpet measured approximately 6,960sq mts and was made from sisal fibre—a fibre extracted from the leaves of agave plants. It took artisans 60 days to make the carpet. It was then hand-painted with blue and red designs in the USA.
