Keir Starmer was appointed as the new prime minister of the United Kingdom (UK) on July 5 after the Labour Party won UK’s general elections. Starmer replaced the Conservative Party’s Rishi Sunak, who was appointed as UK’s prime minister in 2022. Starmer is UK’s 58th prime minister and the first Labour Party leader to be appointed to the post since 2010. He worked as a lawyer and a prosecutor in the past. He joined politics in 2015 and was appointed as the leader of the Labour Party in the year 2020. As prime minister, Starmer plans to prioritise UK’s economic growth and bring about improvements in education, transportation and other spheres.
