14-year-old Kairan Quazi was recently appointed as a software engineer in the Elon Musk-led space exploration company, SpaceX. He is the youngest person to be employed by SpaceX and will be part of the Starlink engineering team. He will also be the youngest person to graduate from Santa Clara University’s School of Engineering in USA, where he began studying computer science and engineering at the age of 11. Kairan’s curiosity and academic potential prodded his parents to pull him out of school and enrol him in a community college at the age of nine. Kairan started studying at Las Positas College and then interned at Intel Labs as an artificial intelligence (AI) research co-op fellow.
