Jammu and Kashmir’s Crafts Honoured  

To promote Jammu and Kashmir’s handicrafts and ensure they receive international attention, the World Crafts Council (WCC) has planned to bestow the Seal of Authenticity of the Craft certification for the region’s handicrafts.

  • To promote Jammu and Kashmir’s handicrafts and ensure they receive international attention, the World Crafts Council (WCC) has planned to bestow the Seal of Authenticity of the Craft certification for the region’s handicrafts. 
  • This effort strives to support and promote handmade crafts, upholding quality and setting an international benchmark. The announcement of the introduction of this certification was made by WCC president Saad Al-Qaddum at the WCC’s 60th anniversary event held in Srinagar. 
  • On the occasion, Al-Qaddumi revealed that one of WCC’s future initiatives involves the creation of a crafts museum in Srinagar. 
  • Through this initiative, a variety of products including carpets and pashmina shawls will be internationally recognised, showcasing the unique skills of artisans in the region.
