Interim Union Budget 2024-25: Key Facts

India’s Interim Union Budget 2024-25 was presented in Parliament by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1. The full budget will be presented when the new government takes charge after the general elections, which will be held this year.

  • India’s Interim Union Budget 2024-25 was presented in Parliament by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1. The full budget will be presented when the new government takes charge after the general elections, which will be held this year. 
  • The government aims to prioritise the upliftment of the youth, the poor, women and farmers in the country through various initiatives that will empower them. 
  • The government envisions India as ‘Viksit Bharat’, which means ‘advanced India’, by 2047 when India will complete 100 years of independence. To achieve this, the government will focus on the all-round development of the country. 
  • The government has allocated more than ₹73,000 crore for the Department of School Education and Literacy and has also increased allocation for various programmes in the education sector. 
  • The healthcare sector received an allocation of ₹89,155 crore, which is over 12% higher than the last allocation.
