Muktesh Pardeshi, a highly experienced Indian diplomat, has been appointed as India’s new ambassador to Turkey. Pardeshi, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer from the 1991 batch, assumed the responsibilities of the position, which had been vacant since June following the passing of the incumbent, Virander Paul. Before this appointment, Pardeshi worked as a secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and handled consular issues, passports and matters related to Indians settled overseas. He played a crucial role as a member of the government team responsible for hosting the G20 Summit that took place in India in 2023. In his career spanning more than 30 years, Pardeshi has also served as India’s ambassador to Mexico and as the high commissioner of India to New Zealand.
