Captain Fatima Wasim, a member of the Siachen Warriors unit of the Indian Army, has become the first female medical officer to be deployed at an operational post on the Siachen Glacier. The Siachen Glacier is the world’s highest battlefield and is known for its strategic significance. Wasim trained at Siachen Battle School and has been stationed at an altitude of 15,200ft. The rigorous training she underwent helped prepare her for the harsh climate and other challenging conditions of the region.
