- In a bid to enhance biomanufacturing, the Union Cabinet approved the BioE3 (Biotechnology for Economy, Environment and Employment) Policy.
- This policy is expected to revolutionise the manufacturing of products such as enzymes, smart proteins and bio-polymers that are developed from biological sources and advance precision biotherapeutics.
- Enhancing manufacturing with the use of biotechnology will help in the production of eco-friendly products and decrease carbon emissions.
- The BioE3 Policy aims to advance bio-manufacturing by setting up biomanufacturing centres across India and encourage research and innovation in the field of biomanufacturing. It is also expected to generate employment in the biotechnology field.
