A schoolgirl of Indian origin named Moksha Roy was honoured with the British Prime Minister’s Points of Light Award to recognise her exceptional commitment to environmental sustainability. The seven-year-old was presented the award by Deputy British Prime Minister Oliver Dowden in July, acknowledging her as the youngest sustainability advocate in the world. At the age of three, Moksha became part of a United Nations (UN) sustainability initiative that fought microplastic pollution. She has been part of numerous sustainability efforts and has also helped to conduct educational sessions for needy schoolchildren in India. Moksha worked towards integrating the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into students’ school curricula and urged students in her school to discontinue the use of plastic art supplies and other pollutants.
