A media executive of Indian origin named Samir Shah has been chosen as the chairman of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), one of the world’s most popular public service broadcasters. Shah has been working in the field of television production and broadcasting for over four decades. He was part of BBC previously and served in various capacities including head of current affairs and political programmes. During his career, Shah worked with London Weekend Television and also served as a non-executive director on BBC’s board from 2007 to 2010. The 71-year-old is currently the chief executive officer of a production company called Juniper TV. Shah was born in Aurangabad in Maharashtra and relocated to the UK in 1960.
