An American lawyer of Indian origin named Kash Patel has been appointed as the director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He is the first Indian-American to hold this post. Also known as Kashyap Patel, he was born to Indian Gujarati immigrant parents. At the beginning of his career, he served as a public defender, tackling many challenging criminal cases. He has also served as the senior director for counterterrorism at the National Security Council and has been involved in other US intelligence and security initiatives. Patel, who is an alumnus of the University of Richmond, USA, will focus on boosting the transparency of the FBI in his new role.
