A well-known Indian astrophysicist named Prahlad Chandra Agrawal created history by becoming the first Indian to be honoured with the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) Harrie Massey Award. The 83-year-old was honoured with the award at the 45th COSPAR Scientific Assembly held in South Korea in July. The award recognises Agrawal’s efforts in leading important projects in the space research field. Agrawal played a vital role in the launch of India’s first multi-wavelength telescope called AstroSat, which has been providing researchers with vital information. He also contributed to the Chandrayaan-1 mission.
