A Chinook helicopter of the Indian Air Force (IAF) set a unique record by covering a distance of 1,910kms in 7 hours and 30 minutes on April 11 this year. The Chinook flew non-stop from Chandigarh to Jorhat in Assam. The Chinook is used for disaster relief operations, transportation of relief supplies and mass evacuation of refugees. It is also used for transporting troops, artillery, fuel and equipment. It has a fully integrated digital cockpit management system, advanced cargo handling capabilities and an electronic warfare suite that enhances the aircraft’s performance.
