- India has selected two Indian Air Force pilots named Shubhanshu Shukla and Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair as the primary mission pilot and the backup mission pilot, respectively, for a mission to the International Space Station (ISS).
- Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla is an Indian Air Force test pilot.
- The mission called Axiom-4 is a private mission to the ISS and is a collaboration between the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Axiom Space and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), USA.
- It will include four astronauts who will conduct experiments and research activities aboard the ISS. The crew began training for the project in Houston, USA, in August.
- The mission is expected to provide India with valuable information and experience that will benefit future missions to space.
