India Honours President of Trinidad and Tobago With Pravasi Bharatiya Samman

India honoured Christine Carla Kangaloo, the president of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award for her efforts in boosting India’s international image and her remarkable work in public affairs.

India honoured Christine Carla Kangaloo, the president of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award for her efforts in boosting India’s international image and her remarkable work in public affairs. The award is the most prestigious recognition given to Indians residing overseas and was presented to Kangaloo, who is of Indian origin, for her notable service. Dr Pradeep Rajpurohit, the high commissioner of India, presented the award to Kangaloo on behalf of Droupadi Murmu, the president of India, during a Republic Day reception, showcasing the strong relationship between the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and India. Kangaloo was the chief guest at the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention that took place from January 8 to 10 in Odisha during which she highlighted the historic bond shared by the two nations and the influence of Indian indentured workers who moved to Trinidad in the 1800s and 1900s.
